Spain’s smallest DO – Alella.
This is a region divided in two by an imposing mountain range that runs down the middle.
The grape varieties here are Macabeo, Parellada, the indigenous Pansa Blanca (a cousin of the Xarel-lo, widely grown in Penedès), together with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
