Rueda

Spain’s answer to Sancerre, the high, bare land of Rueda has hot summers and cold winters, though its extremes are never quite as drastic as those of Ribera del Duero, and its Sauvignon Blanc is never as extreme as that of New Zealand. Instead its whites are nutty, complex, sleek and sometimes quite weighty – they’re all-round food wines, taking on some of the character of the native Verdejo. We have examples of each.
