Nunzio Ghiraldi

As every student of grape varieties knows, Trebbiano di Lugana is the only serious Trebbiano there is, which is mostly because it’s not Trebbiano at all, but another name for the fine and structured Verdicchio grape. Nunzio Ghiraldi grows it near Lake Garda, and makes vibrantly juicy and complex wines with notes of herbs and stone fruit. If wines reflect their maker, then I should add that he rides a Harley, he trained as a lawyer, and he’s recently become a father, thus rivalling my position as the oldest father in the wine trade. I don’t know whether you can infer a tasting note from that, but he’s a good guy.
